A type of forced induction which uses a compressor to increase the pressure of the air entering each cylinder. This added pressure adds power to the engine. The compressor is powered by an exhaust turbine. The flow of exhaust leaving the motor powers the turbine which in turn powers the compressor. Since turbo charging is a light weight modification, it can significantly increase the power to weight ratio of an automobile.
